From a period that expands over a decade, I have competed in local and national marathons raising thousands of pounds for major charities such as the NSPCC. I have also competed in several Thai boxing contests. I was previously ranked 8th & the Men's British Title contender & still teach Muay Thai & self defence.

I started my own running club within my first few months of employment at a top Sheffield Health Club. That same year I put a team together to run the Sheffield Half Marathon. For many of the runners it was a major life time achievement to run 13 miles. Due to my enthusiasm the health club delegated me to a launch personal training programme within the club (I was the only instructor to be sent on the course).

The early years:
I have always enjoyed sport from a young age from playing badminton for the Men's team at the age of 16 years, reaching a competitive level to get through to the South Yorkshire quarter final round. Running is a hobby which I enjoy, although I don't have the physical looks of a long distance runner but from my school days I ran for both A & B Cross country teams & raced other schools all over South Yorkshire.

For several years I have been a personal trainer for a premier chain of health clubs within Sheffield. I work with a variety of clients from the age for 16 to 62 years old male and female, covering weight loss to muscle tone & gain.

"Half the battle is to believe you can do it!"

Running club team:
Within my first few months at Esporta Sheffield I had members running their first ever 13 mile half marathon, since then the running club has grown in numbers & currently still the only Sheffield Health Club to have an outdoor running team. Back then it was only 45minutes, but now that would be just a warm-up for most of them.

September 2004 we travel to Berlin to run the 31st Berlin marathon, excluding myself only 1 of the team of 7 runners have completed a full marathon prior to this event. Yet another life time achievement for the team of runners.

Muay Thai Boxing:
Hard physical training in a sport which i enjoyed lead me compete for a British Title when I was currently ranked 8th in Muay Thai Boxing. From a young age I have always enjoyed contact sport from Karate to sparring with some of Sheffield well known boxers, such as Prince Naz, Johnny Nelson, Herold Graham and more.

Many of my client enjoy how I have incorporated the aspect of self defence into a personal training work out including one of my clients who is an Jujitsu Instructor.

NSPCC:
3 times London Marathon Finisher. Back in 1997 I raised over £10,000 sponsored by NSPCC. In 1999 I put together a team of 4 runners to run for the NSPCC. In December 2003 Runners World Magazine featured the BUPA Great North Run, I was featured in the official photo crossing the Millennium Bridge.

Over the past 15 years I have done far too many runs to list, but so have some of my personal training clients, of which 2 also ran the Great North Run.

Although you don't need to run to get fit!
